The series takes place in the mid-1970s. In the capital, the writer Kononenko, who was writing a documentary book about the atrocities of the Nazis in the occupied territories, is killed by a murderer.
The investigation learned that Kononenko managed to track down one of the most brutal executioners, Alex Lyuty, who participated in the mass executions of civilians in Novocherkassk.
Seventeen-year-old Alexander Lekhnovsky voluntarily entered the service of the Germans in 1942. At first, he worked as a translator for the local commandant Otto Kerner, but soon, wanting to curry favor with his master, Lekhnovsky, or Alex Lyuty as Kerner nicknamed him, actively took part in the executions of partisans and civilians.
In 1943, partisans found the body of a policeman with a disfigured face, which contained documents for Alexander Lekhnovsky, so for a long time it was believed that Alex Lyuty was dead.
However, the murder of the writer Kononenko indicated that Lyuty was alive and still very dangerous. In order to save his own life, he would continue to kill others, all those who could directly or indirectly testify against him and lead to his trail…
