The house on Baker Street has another visitor. It is the young lady Mary Morstan, whose father disappeared ten years ago. And six years ago, Miss Morstan received an anonymous letter, to which was enclosed a large pearl.

Since then, every year she received an envelope with the same pearl. But a few days ago she received another letter. This time it was signed by a certain Tadeusz Sholto. He asked Mary to come to the specified address that evening and take two witnesses with her.

As it turned out, his father, Major Sholto, was a colleague of Captain Morstan, Mary's father. During their service in India, they became the owners of untold treasures.

However, during the division of the property, the partners quarreled, and Captain Morstan died of a heart attack. Fearing that he would be accused of murder, Major Sholto hid the captain's body.

However, before his death, the major's conscience awakened towards Captain Morstan's daughter and he bequeathed to his sons to restore justice in relation to Miss Morstan.

For several years the brothers searched their father's house and garden without success. And finally, when the treasure was found, they called Mary.

However, when the girl, accompanied by Tadeusz Sholto, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson, arrived to his brother Tadeusz, they found him dead. And the treasures of Agra were stolen.

As it turned out, they had another beneficiary.

It turned out to be a certain Jonathan Small. While serving a prison sentence on the Andaman Islands, Small and three other convicts learned of the treasures of Agra.

They shared this secret with their jailers Morstan and Sholto, hoping that when they were released, they would receive their share. However, three of them died in the penal servitude, never seeing freedom. And Jonathan Small manages to escape...
