Plot of the film Kin-dza-dza! (1986 film):
The film takes place in Moscow in the 1980s. Foreman Vladimir Mashkov, known as Uncle Vova, returns home and decides to buy bread. On the street, he meets a young man called Skripach, who claims to know an alien. Intrigued, Mashkov decides to call an ambulance for the "alien", but accidentally activates a travel device and ends up with Skripach on the planet Plyuk in the Kin-dza-dza galaxy.
Racial discrimination reigns on Plyuk: the superior race of Chetlane oppresses the inferior race of Potsak. The most valuable currency on this planet is matches. Mashkov and Skripach meet a Chetlanin named Uef and a Potsak named B. They promise to return the earthlings to Earth in exchange for matches and a gravitsappa - an engine part for interplanetary communications.
After several unsuccessful deals, the earthlings are forced to earn money by performing as traveling artists. In the finale, after long wanderings around the Kin-dza-dza galaxy, they meet the very same alien from Moscow who sent them on this space journey. He returns Mashkov and Skripach back to Earth.
