Jason's father easily defeated the first of the attackers, but the second fighter, Russian karateka Ivan Krashinsky, was very strong and broke Tom's leg in the fight. Jason, who studied karate at his father's school, tried to stand up for him, but Krashinsky knocked him to the floor with one blow.

Arriving in Seattle, Jason equipped a gym in the garage and began to study karate on his own. Soon he meets a neighbor boy named J. Double-U. Jason even stands up for his new friend in front of local bullies.

From his new friend he learns that his idol, the unrivaled martial artist Bruce Lee, lived in Seattle, and the friends visit the grave of the great master. J. W., seeing Jason's passion for karate, invites him to go to the local school.

But there was also a bully at the school, whom Jason had recently beaten up while defending a friend. When he saw Jason, he told Dean, the school's instructor, that Jason was from Los Angeles and had said very bad things about the Seattle Karate School.

Hearing this, Dean decided to immediately test the new recruit, pitting him against one of the school's best fighters. Jason suffered a heavy defeat and, to the whistles and laughter of the students, was forced to leave the school. Failures continue to haunt Jason: at his girlfriend Katie's birthday party, Dean, also in love with Katie, provokes Jason and then beats him up.

And that same evening Jason has a conflict with his father. His father forbids Jason to practice karate. But Jason is used to not retreating and not giving in, so he leaves home. He asks J.W. to live with him for a while.

J. W. shows Jason a small abandoned house, where Jason equips a gym. That same evening, Jason visits the grave of his idol Bruce Lee, he asks the great master to help him. At night, as soon as Jason closes his eyes, the ghost of Bruce Lee appears to him in the abandoned house and offers him to train under his guidance.

Jason trains hard and soon achieves unprecedented success. Soon a karate tournament is planned in Seattle: the mafia who took the school from Jason's father have reached Seattle.
