The plot of the movie Old Robbers:
With each passing year, every person's strength decreases and it becomes more and more difficult to work. He becomes a burden for the labor collective, and often the state of health obliges a person to think about rest.
Sooner or later every working person retires and gets money for not working. However, what about those who have reached retirement age but are still full of energy and strength to work?
Two comrades of retirement age found themselves in such a situation. Valentin Petrovich Vorobyov, an engineer, and Nikolai Sergeevich Myachikov, an investigator of the prosecutor's office. And if Vorobyov managed to persuade his superiors to keep him on the job. But with Myachikov it was more complicated.
His place was claimed by "blatnoy" Yevgeny Proskudin, who had never worked a day as an investigator. He didn't even have a legal education. But a big boss ordered prosecutor Fedyaev to free Prokusdin's place as an investigator.

And since only Myachikov was of retirement age in the prosecutor's office, Fedyaev decided to make room for him at his expense. Formally for the fact that Myachikov was doing a bad job and hadn't investigated any serious cases recently.
Then Vorobyov offers Myachikov help. He will commit some crime, and Myachikov will successfully investigate it. The management will appreciate this and keep him in the service.
However, at first Myachikov rejects the offer. But soon he learns that Proskudin, a gangster, will only temporarily take his place. Until a quieter and more monetary position is found for him....
