Narrative:

The action of the film "Vanity of Vanities" takes place in the late 70s of the last century in Russia. Marina Petrovna, the head of one of the Moscow Civil Registry Offices, every day sends the happy newlyweds into their new married life. But one weekday working day for Marina Petrovna, her husband Boris Ivanovich comes to the registry office and with all frankness tells her that he is leaving for another woman.

Marina Petrovna had gotten used to everything during her long working life at the registry office, because she not only married people, but also divorced them. However, accepting an application from strangers is one thing, but accepting an application from her own husband, with whom she had lived for almost twenty years, is quite another. Therefore, Marina Petrovna tears up Boris Ivanovich's application and sends it to court, knowing that the court will side with her.

But soon Marina Petrovna begins to understand that you can't bring her husband back through the courts and she is no longer so harshly inclined to condemn his actions. After all, it was her fault that he left: in this vanity of life, she forgot that she is, first of all, a woman, and not a strict and callous boss...
