The plot of the movie Big Break (movie 1973):

The young historian Nestor Severov is without five minutes a candidate of historical sciences. After all, as Professor Vlasiuk said, that the exam for graduate school is just a formality for him. And how could it be otherwise, if Nestor's only rival at the exams will be some school history teacher.

Besides this success, Nestor had another equally important one waiting for him. He was soon to marry the beautiful Polina, whom he had recently met on the beach.

What was Nestor's amazement when he learned that his fiancée Polina is the very history teacher with whom he will have to fight for a place in graduate school.

But Nestor was not worried about it and thought that Polina would not be able to compete with him.

However, Nestor's self-confidence failed him, and this time his amazement became even greater. Imagining that now he was not worthy of Pauline, Nestor not only canceled the wedding, but also left science.

If the schoolteacher was able to surpass him in scholarship, it was the right time for him to take his place. And so Nestor Severov goes to work in a school. And not just any school, but working youth schoolwhere some of Nestor's disciples would be as good as his fathers.

However, as Nestor soon realized, the work of a teacher is much broader than teaching history. After all, now he was not only a teacher, but also the class teacher of a large collective. But each group consists of individuals with their own big and small problems.

And when one day Professor Volosyuk offers Nestor again to try to enter graduate school, Nestor still refuses. After all, he realized that not science, but pedagogy is his calling...
