Narrative:

The film "Game Without Rules" takes place in 1945. The counterintelligence department of the Soviet occupation forces in Berlin receives a notebook of the American major Kern, from which it follows that the city commandant, Colonel Sergei Leontyev, was recruited by American intelligence.

It also stated that Colonel Leontyev’s daughter Natasha had been taken to Germany by the Germans during the war, and was now in the American occupation zone, and for the sake of his daughter’s release the colonel had agreed to cooperate with American intelligence.

Counterintelligence officer Lieutenant Colonel Shcheglov asks the leadership to immediately arrest Leontyev, but Colonel Grigory Lartsev, who arrived from Moscow, objects. After all, this notebook could have been specially planted by the Americans in order to compromise not only Colonel Leontyev, but above all his brother, a well-known designer of new missile weapons...
