The Godfather (1972) Movie Plot
The film takes place in America in the first post-war years. The plot centers on the powerful Corleone mafia family. Considered one of the most influential families in the criminal world of New York. And its head, or as his confidants called him, the "godfather" Don Vito Corleone, one of the most famous gangsters in the United States.
Control over gambling, betting and trade unions is the area of activity of the Corleone clan, which brought them huge shadow incomes. And allowed Corleone to bribe high-ranking officials and politicians, judges and prosecutors.
With such cover, the Corleone family firmly established itself on the criminal Olympus of New York, preferring not to continue to conflict with the authorities and other mafia clans. Therefore, despite the fact that the Second World War was going on in the world, there was a long truce in the criminal world of New York.

But one day, a certain Virgil Sollozzo, nicknamed "The Turk," arrived in New York. He was a major dealer who imported drugs from the Middle East. Having met Vito Corleone and his sons, Sollozzo told him about the atomic prospects associated with drug sales. And he asked Corleone for help in promoting his business on the American market.
But the "godfather" was forced to turn down this young upstart from Sicily because drug trafficking was a dirty business. Even the politicians and judges he kept on his payroll might turn their backs on Corleone if they learned that he was involved in the drug trade.
One casually dropped word from Santio Corleone, Vito Corleone's eldest son, gave Sollozzo hope that if it were not for his father, Santio would willingly accept his offer. So Sollozzo, with the help of the Tataglia family, which competed with Corleone, organized an assassination attempt on Vito Corleone.
