В Прагу прибывает заподногерманская футбольная команда «Cologne» to take part in the return match of the semi-final of the European Champions Cup against the local Dukla. The German team lost the home match, losing to the Czechs by a minimal score of 0:1, and in the away match they hoped to take revenge thanks to their forward Franz Pichler.
In the first match, the Prague team took Pichler out of action in the middle of the first half, and this, according to the Germans, was the main reason for Cologne's defeat, but in this match, all their hope was on Pichler and that he would play the entire match.
However, during training, a few days before the match, Pichler unexpectedly dies. The cause of death was poisoning, which entered Pichler's body through a drawing pin placed in his boots. The Germans immediately blamed the Czechs for the death of their forward, who, allegedly panicking about Pichler, decided to put him out of action.
The German team's management said that if the Czech secret service did not solve the crime and find the killer, they would refuse to take the field because of the threat of new attacks on their players. The case smelled of a political scandal, and the old football rule that the match would take place in any weather might not work in this case.
The investigation of this high-profile case is entrusted to the investigative group of the Czech state security under the leadership of captain Jiri Patočka. The detectives had to solve this crime in the shortest possible time, thereby not only finding Pichler's killer, but also saving the honor of their country, and most importantly, making sure that the match, which millions of fans were impatiently waiting for, would take place...
