Plot of the movie Police Academy 5: Destination Miami Beach:

Deputy Commandant of the Police Academy, Captain Harris, had long dreamed of sitting in his boss's chair. However, despite his age, Commandant Lassard was in his position and did not seem to be planning to retire.

Lassard's vitality was troubling Harris. He decided that Commandant Lassard was staying afloat thanks to some special relationship with Commissioner Hurst. To confirm or deny this idea, he and his loyal assistant Lieutenant Proctor entered Hurst's office.

Finding Lassard's personnel file in the desk, Harris saw what he had been looking for. As it turned out, Commandant Lassard was a year overdue for retirement. And, of course, Harris now had to report it.

And so, after another graduation of cadets, Commissioner Hurst was forced to announce Lassard's resignation. And he appointed Captain Harris as the acting commandant of the academy.

However, even before his dismissal, Lassard had to go to a convention of police academy chiefs in Miami Beach. His eternal opponent, Captain Harris, was also invited there.

While the police academy's leadership was deciding personnel issues, an event occurred outside of it that had a decisive impact on their outcome.

Ironically, the three bandits who committed the jewelry store robbery are also heading to Miami Beach.

Quite by chance, their paths cross with Colonel Lassard and his best graduates, who accompanied the commandant on this mission...
