Narrative:
The action of the film "Seven Hours to Death" takes place in the early 80s of the last century. On the military ship "Strong", which was on combat duty in the North Sea, there was a Emergency: as a result of the cable breaking, one of the sailors received a severe injury to the abdominal cavity and chest
Urgent medical assistance was needed, but the Silny needed several hours of travel before arriving at the port, and given the increasing storm, this time was even longer. The fleet management decided to deliver surgeon Alexey Shulgin to the Silny by helicopter, but due to the strong storm, the pilot was unable to land the aircraft on the ship's deck.
Then Shulgin suggests that the pilot should lower himself as much as possible above the deck so that he could jump. The sailors highly appreciated the doctor's courageous act, but after examining the patient, Shulgin was forced to disappoint them: it was impossible to operate on a wounded man in such conditions. With such an injury, his internal organs were probably damaged, and without diagnostics it was impossible to determine this, and how could the operation be performed without an anesthesiologist and with the ship pitching in a storm?
Of course, Shulgin could have performed the operation, since in the event of the patient’s death he would have thereby removed all responsibility from himself, but an honest and principled surgeon understood that it was better to bear responsibility for failure to provide assistance than to commit deliberate murder…
