Plot:

Action of the film Taimyr is calling you takes place in the first post-war years in Moscow. Four business travelers are staying in a room in one of the capital's hotels. One of them, a supplier fromTaimyr Comrade Dyuzhikov is expecting an important call from the peninsula. The operator warned Dyuzhikov that Taimyr was calling him and asked him to wait by the phone.

But Dyuzhikov's new acquaintances "delighted" him by saying that in this way he could wait from a few minutes to a day. This turn of events clearly did not suit Dyuzhikov, since he had arrived in Moscow for only two days, and during these two days he had to visit many ministries and departments to provide for the geological expedition.

At first, Dyuzhikov asks his co-numbered colleagues to stand watch by the phone, but they are also on business trips like him, and they all have urgent matters. Ivan Ivanovich Kirpichnikov, the director of the Philharmonic, found a way out. He suggested that Dyuzhikov stay in the room and wait for a call from Taimyr, and he and his other comrades would go to the authorities instead of Dyuzhikov.

In return, Kirpichnikov asks Dyuzhikov to replace him as director of the Philharmonic. As Kirpichnikov reported, he will only need to audition young performers, who will soon have to come to his room in orderly rows and politely refuse them further cooperation.

Dyuzhikov willingly accepts Kirpichnikov's offer, and while his friends are running around the city and solving the problems of the geological expedition, Dyuzhikov acts as the director of the philharmonic. But impersonating another person turned out to be much more difficult for comrade Dyuzhikov than knocking out bearings for geologists, so he gets into very difficult and sometimes very comical situations.

And by evening, Comrade Dyuzhikov was so confused that he himself no longer knew who he really was. As a result of all the twists and turns, Dyuzhikov ends up in the police, without ever having received an important call from Taimyr...
