Narrative:

The action of the film "One of Us" takes place in the last pre-war months. Despite the treaty signed in August 1939 non-aggression pact, the likelihood of a major war in the near future increased every day.

Soviet counterintelligence received information that the Germans were actively interested in the latest Soviet developments in the field of multiple launch rocket systems.

In order to find out what the Germans' real intentions were, Soviet counterintelligence decided to introduce its agent Nikolai Biryukov into the Abwehr's confidence.

Cavalryman and Red Army lieutenant Biryukov was not a professional intelligence officer, but he was chosen because of his outward resemblance to a certain Nikolai Petrov.
