Narrative:

The film "One Chance in a Thousand" takes place in 1943. A group of paratroopers under the command of Captain Migunko is sent to German-occupied Crimea to provide assistance to Mironov's partisan detachment, which finds itself in a critical situation.

However, thanks to a provocateur planted in the detachment, the Germans manage to find out about the landing site and block Migunko's group in the mountains. Finding himself surrounded, Migunko decides to set up an ambush on the road and capture a German car, which will be used to break through the road patrols.

The first to appear on the road was a car with two officers. And although such a car was too small for Migunko's group, the captain ordered to seize the car, because the officers could have important staff documents. However, the paratroopers' "catch" was much more significant, because their captives turned out to be SD officers who, on the instructions of Reichsfuehrer SS Himmler himself, were heading to inspect a sabotage school disguised as a holiday home.

One of the officers, Hauptsturmführer Weising, dies while trying to escape, and the second officer Dubinsky, wanting to save his life at any cost, agrees to cooperate with Soviet intelligence. Since Migunko spoke German perfectly, he decides to go to the Germans together with Dubinsky under the guise of the deceased Weising.

The command approved Migunko’s decision, because the sabotage school contained the archives of all German agents operating in Ukraine, and if there was even one chance in a thousand to seize this archive, it had to be used immediately…
