Narrative:

The action of the movie Five from the sky takes place in 1941. The Soviet top leadership receives information that the Germans have developed a new type of chemical shells, which have already been delivered to some parts of the front to be tested in combat conditions.

The Soviet leadership informed the Allies, who expressed their readiness to use chemical weapons in response if the Germans dared to use theirs chemical weapons. This, the Allies repeatedly told Hitler through their own channels, and so far the Germans have not dared to use chemical weapons, neither on the Western Front nor on the Eastern Front.

Nevertheless, the Soviet leadership needed to provide evidence of the Germans' possession of chemical shells, and even more important was to learn about the properties of the chemical used in them. For this purpose, a five-man reconnaissance team led by Captain Minaev was sent deep behind enemy lines by Soviet intelligence.

The five scouts had only one day's time to do everything. In a day's work in the deep enemy rear, where the Gestapo had agents and provocateurs at every corner, finding a batch of shells seemed almost impossible.

In addition, during the landing the scouts' radios malfunctioned, and the local underground, on which they were supposed to rely, was practically destroyed. Two underground fighters remained at large, one of whom was a Gestapo provocateur.
