Действие фильма «Вас ожидает гражданка Никанорова» происходит в конце 70-х годов прошлого века. Главная героиня фильма, сельская девушка Катя Никанорова пребывает в активном поиске и мечтает найти своего единственного и неповторимого принца, за что становиться объектом для насмешек со стороны односельчан.

After all, every time Katya falls in love with another suitor, she sells her house to the collective farm and leaves for the city with her future groom, but very soon returns back with nothing.

One day, returning from the city, where another "prince" abandoned her at the station, Katya Nikanorova finds a certain citizen in her house - Pavel Dezhkin, the new collective farm veterinarian. Since Katya sold her house to the collective farm, the chairman had every legal basis to give it to Dezhkin, but upon returning home, the girl demanded that the veterinarian clear the premises.

Trying to settle the dispute, the chairman asks Katya to let Dezhkin live there for a week until they find him another place to live. Katya reluctantly agrees, because at first she didn't really like this withdrawn and taciturn young man. The modest and intelligent Pavel didn't fit into the image of men she was used to.

And Pavel, who came to work in the village after his girlfriend left him, behaved very cautiously and aloofly, because there were such bad rumors about Katya in the village...
