Narrative:

The action of the movie "Anna on the Neck" takes place in Russia at the end of the 19th century. After the death of her mother, Anna Soboleva stopped attending balls, and her father Peter Leontievich began to drink more and more often. The financial situation of the family deteriorated every day and more and more often Anna had to be convinced that her father is no longer able to support her, on this, the terrible prospect of being on the street with two small brothers very frightened Anna.

Only a successful marriage could save Anna and her whole family from this impending disaster. And soon such a bridegroom was found in the person of Modest Alekseevich Kosorotov, a middle-aged official. He was old and ugly, but he had his own estate, a hundred thousand roubles on his account, and was on good account with His Lordship the Prince.

However, having married Kosorotov, Anna could do little to help her needy family, for Kosorotov was very stingy and not at all inclined to charity. Every time he showed Anna her place and emphasized once again what a great favor he had done her by taking her as his wife out of "poverty"

But one day Kosorotov had to splurge for the sake of his young wife. A traditional winter ball was to be held at His Lordship's house, and Kosorotov decided to introduce Anna into the world, and, of course, in a new dress, for which he did not scrimp in allocating as much as a hundred roubles.

In this new dress Anna made a real sensation at the ball, and all the men present, including His Lordship the Prince, incessantly courted her. And after this ball Anna became a real socialite, and spent all her free time in the company of her new rich and influential admirers.

Never had she been so happy as before, but this happiness turned out to be selfish, for during this time Anna not only did not remember her annoying husband, but even her father and her two little brothers....
