Plot:

The action of the film "Being Superfluous" takes place in the mid-70s of the last century. The thiefrecidivistVoldemar Yanovich Withers, having served a seven-year sentence, is released. This forty-six-year-old thief already has several convictions behind him. He spent half of his life behind bars and the thought of spending the rest of his life in prison greatly frightened him.

As befits a thief, Withers had no permanent residence, no wife, no children, and it seemed that all these ordinary human values did not bother him much. But having met a young and attractive taxi driver Irena on his way, Withers was ready to start a new life, like millions of other people.

However, the former accomplices do not want to leave Withers alone and incite him to rob a jewelry store. After much thought, Withers agrees to the case, consoling himself that this case will be his last case, and besides, for family life with Irena, he will need money, and without money, as Withers believed, there is no happiness...
