Narrative:
The action of the series "Hero on Call" takes place in our time. Neurologist Ivan Lutoshin often has to tell his patients unpleasant news, but one day he had to hear a terrible diagnosis himself. Inoperable brain cancer left almost no chance and he had only a few months to live.
The anticipation of death is worse than death itself, so Lutoshin decides to commit suicide as quickly as possible rather than languish in fear while awaiting a sad end.
Having considered all the suicide methods, he decides to throw himself under a car, but the attempt is unsuccessful. However, by a lucky chance, the driver turns out to be police detective Ilya Tumanov.
Having learned about Lutoshin's problem, he offers him participation in a deadly police operation, in which he will be guaranteed a heroic death.
Lutoshin readily agrees, but this time there is a misfire. Then Ivan asks Tumanov to send him on the most risky and dangerous police missions.
Having become a kind of hero on call, Lutoshin noticed a strange feature: by risking his life for a good cause, he began to recover. The significant doses of adrenaline released during the mortal risk not only slowed the growth of the tumor, but also provoked its reduction…
