Narrative:
The action of the series "Lagin's Gold" takes place in 1980. In the Urals, in the Sverdlovsk region, there is a gold mine called Severny, where gold is mined artel under the direction of Ivan Lagin.
Many years had passed since Lagin headed the team, and now it was considered the best in the industry, annually producing gold for the country above the planned amount. Lagin achieved such high performance indicators thanks to his innovative approaches to organizing work.
Lagin believed that for high labor productivity there must be good motivation of the worker and therefore, at his mine, salaries were many times higher than the average salary in the country.
However, Deputy Minister of Non-Ferrous Industry Shevelev was not interested in the high figures of Lagin's artel and the salaries of his workers. The official was much more interested in his own pocket, into which Lagin categorically refused to put the established percentage.
Lagin's gold was not only a thorn in the side of the deputy minister. The criminal gang, the shop stewards and other criminal riffraff wanted to lay their paws on the mine, and they were uniting their efforts against Lagin. But while Lagin had great authority with the minister of non-ferrous industry himself, the criminals were unable to remove him from his post.

However, in 1982, after the death of the head of state Leonid Brezhnev, the situation changed. Neither Svetlana nor her all-powerful husband could serve as protection for Lagin. The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Shchelokov, accused of large-scale corruption, was now too toxic and friendship with him or his relatives could only do harm.
And soon the Minister of Non-Ferrous Industry, who had been covering for Lagin, also lost his post. Shevelev, who had taken his place, had a good chance to put his man in charge of the mine, but the former front-line soldier, for whom the artel had been the main goal of his life, was not going to capitulate to the bandits…
