Plot of the film The Count of Monte Cristo (2024 film):

A young sailor from Marseille, Edmond Dantes, was expecting a wedding with the beautiful Mercedes and a promotion. The shipowner Morrel was going to make him captain of his best merchant ship, the Pharaoh.

However, during his own wedding, Dantes was arrested and, without trial or investigation, placed in the sinister Chateau d'If, where dangerous state criminals were kept.

After several years of tedious imprisonment in a damp and cold dungeon, Edmond meets another prisoner, Abbot Farria. This Farria had been digging a tunnel for several years, but an error in geometric calculations led him not to freedom, but to a cell with a similar prisoner.

With Forria's help, Dantes not only reconstructed in minute detail the day of his arrest, but also the events that preceded it. Dantes learned the names of the people who had landed him in prison. These people, whom he considered friends, had treacherously betrayed him out of envy and written a false denunciation of him to the king's prosecutor.

But the most important thing was not this. Farria revealed to Dantes the secret of the countless treasures of the Templars, hidden on the small uninhabited island of Monte Cristo near the coast of Italy.

And then one day, after fifteen long years of imprisonment, Dantes manages to escape from the castle and take possession of these treasures. Edmond Dantes was no more, he died in the dungeons of the Chateau d'If. In his place, the Count of Monte Cristo was born. He was free, fabulously rich and very generous. But not to his enemies, who, as he learned, were very successful in life.

On the way to success and wealth they committed many other crimes, which they had already forgotten. Now they were noble Parisian nobles, respected and successful people, with access to the highest spheres of the French state.

But then a certain Count of Monte Cristo appears in Paris. He is not going to take revenge on anyone, he just wants to help the investigation in exposing the criminals...
