Plot The Musketeers 20 Years Later:
20 years have passed since the events described in the film "D'Artagnan and the Three Musketeers". D'Artagnan still served in the king's musketeers and in these 20 years he rose only to the rank of lieutenant, which was awarded to him by the late Cardinal Richelieu.
And now he served as the head of the company of guards of the current Cardinal Mazarin. While D'Artagnan was content with his modest position and saw no opportunity to rise higher up the career ladder, his faithful friends, the musketeers: Athos, Porthos and Aramis, left military service, became rich and felt quite good "in civilian life".
The friends had not met for many years, as they were no longer connected by what they could not do without 20 years ago, during their adventure-filled and romantic youth.
But one day in a tavern, D'Artagnan overhears a conversation between some unknown and suspicious individuals. From this conversation, D'Artagnan realized that someone had hired these scoundrels to kill the Abbe d'Herblay, formerly known as Aramis, a musketeer and one of D'Artagnan's friends.
D'Artagnan decided to deal with these mercenaries, wanting to find out who hired them, but did not have time: they all died from his sword, without having time to tell the truth. D'Artagnan feels that not only Aramis, but also himself and all his friends are in danger, so he asks Mazarin to give him a short leave. Mazarin agrees to let D'Artagnan go, but on the condition that he and his friends will serve him.

D'Artagnan sets out to find his friends, but to his great chagrin, Athos and Aramis refuse him. Only Porthos responds to D'Artagnan's offer, who really wanted to become a baron and, according to D'Artagnan, Cardinal Mazarin could arrange this for him.
And so, D'Artagnan and Porthos head to Paris for instructions from Mazarin. Having received instructions, the friends go to England to fight against King Charles I on the side of the rebels led by Oliver Cromwell.
Here in the war, D'Artagnan and Porthos meet Athos and Aramis, who were now on the other side of the barricades and fought on the side of Charles I.
But these geopolitical differences could not destroy their friendship, because they all now had a common and very dangerous enemy. This is a certain Mordaunt, or Lord Winter, the son of Milady Winter, who was burning with a passionate desire to take revenge on the Musketeers for the death of his mother.
In addition, Cardinal Mazarin stood in the way of the musketeers, intending not only to usurp all power in France, but also to finally deal with the four hated musketeers who had prevented his predecessor, Cardinal Richelieu, from doing so...

Второй фильм как-то лучше смотрится, первый чересчур музыкальный и комедийный для такого серьезного произведения
