Narrative:

The action of the movie "Oxygen Hunger" takes place in the mid-80s of the last century. In the artillery division comes the replenishment of young soldiers. At the same time there comes an order to dismiss to the reserve the soldiers who have served the statutory term of service.

Now for the remaining days before the "demobel" old-servicemen, or as they are popularly called "grandfathersThe sooner the "deeds" could train the recruits or "skids", the sooner they would leave the unit, which had become boring to them after two years. The sooner the "Didis" could train the new recruits or "fighters", the sooner they would leave the unit, which had become boring to them over the past two years.

The first principle that every recruit had to absorb was that in the army, the one who learns to obey a superior officer survives.

Но одно дело подчиняться законным приказам и распоряжениям, предусмотренными уставом, а другое дело выполнять всякие прихоти «дедов». За невыполнение приказа начальника военнослужащим грозило дисциплинарное взыскание, а за невыполнение незаконного и непредусмотренного уставом приказа «деда» — моральное или физическое наказание.

Humiliation of human dignity, bullying and even beating young soldiers was the main argument with the help of which the "grandfathers" had to instill in young soldiers that the boss was always right.

Most of the recruits patiently endured all these humiliations, because the youth of a soldier passes very soon and soon they will become "grandfathers" themselves. But one young fighter from Ukraine, Private Bilyk, did not want to absorb this servile psychology.

A stubborn soldier with a sense of dignity became across the throat of not only the old soldiers, but also his commanders.

Deputy Squad Sergeant Koshachy is instructed to personally "educate" Private Bilyk, otherwise his "demobilization" will have to be postponed until New Year's Eve. But the sergeant's ambitions were already wounded, and he without any instructions decided to break the will of a recalcitrant soldier...
