Movie plot:
The deceiver, swindler and rogue Tartuffe, under the guise of a selfless righteous man, gains the trust of the elderly, rich and God-fearing Oregon, who, in his naivety, considered this rogue almost a saint and sheltered him in his home.
The entire family of the venerable Oregon tries to open his eyes to the true face of this "saint", but Oregon, charmed by the sweet speeches of the rogue, does not believe his loved ones, and even plans to marry his daughter Mariana to him.
However, the rogue has set his sights on Oregon's young wife Elmira, and is trying to seduce her. Elmira threatens to tell her husband everything if the swindler does not give up on marrying Mariana, but Oregon's son Dimas, who overheard this conversation, hurries to tell his father everything himself.
Having listened to his son and his favorite Tartuffe, Oregon takes the latter's side and drives his own son out of the house, promising to disinherit him. But even this was not enough for the God-fearing Oegon, he draws up a deed of gift, according to which he bequeaths all his property to Tartuffe.
Seeing that Oregon's reckless love for Tartuffe will ruin their family, Elvira suggests that her husband see for himself the truth of his son Dimas's words. Having hidden Oregon under the table, Elvira sends for Tartuffe, who does not keep him waiting long. Having made sure that he and Elvira are alone, the rogue returns to his old ways and begins to seduce his benefactor's wife again.
But this time, Oregon finally believed his eyes and realized what a snake he had warmed to his chest. Having crawled out from under the table, where he had been watching the "saint" Tartuffe embrace his wife, Oregon demanded that the seducer and scoundrel leave his house immediately.
However, the rogue reminded him that according to the deed of gift, he was now the owner of this house. In addition, in the simplicity of his soul, Oregon left his secret chest, which contained evil epigrams about the king himself, for the safekeeping of the "saint". Now Oregon understood how cleverly the rogue had fooled him, threatening to soon send the chest with the epigrams to the king...
