Действие фильма «Три дня вне закона» происходит в начале 90-х годов прошлого века. Бывший морской пехотинец Андрей Вавилов не мог себе и в кошмарном сне представить, чем обернется для него рядовая командировка в Москву.

Working as a truck driver in one of the former collective farms of the Moscow region, Vavilov takes engines to a repair plant in Moscow, and on the way back he stops at a gas station on the outskirts of the capital. At this time, a huge queue has formed at the gas station, in which verbal altercations between drivers flare up every now and then, each of whom is in a hurry to get home and is very nervous about any, even minor, delay.

At the moment when the situation was heating up to the limit, a Niva enters the gas station, the driver of which, brazenly ignoring the queue, begins to fill up. Andrey and other drivers try to make a remark to the driver and his partner, but they also brazenly ignore these remarks and even insult Andrey in a rude manner.

When Andrei tried to reason with the insolent Muscovites, they attacked him with their fists. Fortunately, nature did not deprive Vavilov of physical strength, and his service in the army did not go in vain: with one blow Vavilov knocked out the attacker, so much so that he was at death's door.

By the time the police arrived, the witnesses to the incident had already left, so instead of self-defense, the investigator charged Vavilov with causing grievous bodily harm, and if the victim dies, then with murder with all the ensuing consequences.

The investigator sends Vavilov to Pre-trial detention center, but on the way, three criminals traveling with him in a paddy wagon attack the convoy and escape. Andrey also escapes, but his forced freedom does not please him, since now he finds himself outside the law...
