Machinist diesel locomotive M62 Fyodor Ivanovich Morgunov is instructed to send a train of a platform and one passenger car to Belyaevka station. Having sent his assistant to mark the track sheet, Morgunov felt bad. Falling down, he turned the steering wheel handle and set the locomotive in motion.

The control room immediately noticed the emergency situation and immediately reported on command. However, it was not so easy to stop an out-of-control train. The first thing the railroad management did was to send another locomotive after the train. It had to dock with the emergency train and slow it down. But there was an accident at the crossing. The catching up locomotive collided with a truck stuck on the tracks. He had to come up with another plan.

At that time, there were four passengers in the passenger car of the train. So far, they had no idea of the dangerous situation they were in. The alarm arose only when the train traveled out of schedule at high speed through Belyaevka.

Alexey Nechaev, a student of a railway vocational school, who was in the car, immediately realized that the driver was in trouble. Unaware of what was done in the management of the road, Alexei decides to act on his own. To save the driver and stop the train, he had to get into the locomotive cabin.

But this operation was extremely dangerous, because all this had to be done at high speed. In addition, the emergency locomotive had already started to catch fire and had to act very quickly....
