Plot:
Action of the film Ten years without the right to correspondence takes place in 1946. Having been demobilized from the Army, Mikhail returns home to Moscow, although he now has nowhere to live. In 1937, during mass repressions His father was arrested on the denunciation of his best friend Stepan Nikiforovich Zavyalov, who moved into their apartment after his father’s arrest.
Ten years without the right to correspondence, that was the sentence, which implied that the convicted person would not live to see the end of his term, but would be shot soon after the trial. Hoping to restore justice, Mikhail wrote letters to all authorities, including Comrade Stalin himself, but no one deigned to give him an answer.
At the legal consultation, Mikhail was explained in a popular way that no one would ever review his father's case, and it is practically impossible to prosecute the "snitch" Zavyalov under the law. His childhood friend Kolya "Tatarin" also tells Mikhail this, and advises him to forget about the laws and the best constitution in the world, and to lie in wait for Zavyalov in the entryway and punish him properly.
Kolya even willingly agrees to help Mikhail in this matter, but Mikhail does not want to kill anyone, he wants to resolve the issue legally, and asks the "Tatar" to testify against Zavyalov.
But one day Kolya's wife Faina disappears in broad daylight. In search of Faina, Mikhail and Kolya turn to the all-knowing Isai Lvovich, a former professor who lived in the metro. The professor tells his friends about rumors that were circulating in Moscow, that Beria's men were hunting for pretty girls and kidnapping them in broad daylight.
As it turned out, in Faina's case, it was not a rumor, she was really kidnapped by Beria's people. Finally, Mikhail realized that in such a country he would never be able to bring Zavyalov to justice by law, so he decided to take extreme measures...
