Narrative:

The action of the movie Without the right to fail takes place at the end of 1941 in the Crimea. In order to shell the defenders of Sevastopol, the Germans delivered to the Crimea a super-powerful giant cannon, the pride of the steelworks Kruppwhich fired five-ton shells. This cannon caused the defenders of Sevastopol great trouble, but to destroy it from the sky, when the enemy's aviation had multiple superiority, was almost impossible: we needed the exact coordinates of the cannon.

According to intelligence reports, such coordinates were obtained by the partisans, but they themselves were surrounded and without radio communication. Therefore, it was decided to send to the partisans a former schoolteacher and now a scout, Lieutenant Lozovoy.

With the help of a contact, a traveling artist Kolesov, Lozovoy manages to get to the partisans, but the commander of the detachment informs him that he has no data on the coordinates of the cannon. The enemy has practically destroyed the entire underground, the turnouts failed. The coordinates of the cannon were known only to one liaison in Bakhchisarai, but her house was watched by the Germans. All the scouts sent to her by the squad commander were ambushed and did not return.

Lozovoy realizes that he cannot return without the coordinates of the cannon and now he faces a task: either to look for this ill-fated cannon himself, or to go to Bakhchisarai to the liaison. Both options were deadly dangerous, but he had no right to fail the operation. To help Lozovoy and Kolesov, the detachment commander gives a guide - a fifteen-year-old partisan nicknamed "Vasilek" ...
