The plot of the series The Three Musketeers (TV series 2013):
An eighteen-year-old Gascon from an impoverished noble family, D'Artagnan leaves his home to begin a military career in Paris. In his pocket are nine livres and a letter of recommendation to the captain of the musketeers, De Treville.
Arriving in Paris, he rents a room from the haberdasher Bonacieux and meets his charming wife Constance, with whom he falls in love at first sight.
D'Artagnan then urgently goes to the captain of the musketeers, who promises him a place in the company.
Along the way, the hot-blooded Gascon starts a quarrel with the king's three best musketeers: Porthos, Aramis and Athos.
Each of them promises to punish the upstart in a duel, but the sudden appearance of the cardinal's guards at the scene of the duel disrupts these plans.
Eventually, D'Artagnan and the three musketeers unite against the Cardinal's guards, and the Gascon becomes part of their company.
At this time in France there was a struggle for power between King Louis XIII and Cardinal Richelieu.
