Plot of the series Ekaterina season 1:
The series is set in 1744. Russia is ruled by an empress from the dynasty Romanovs Elizaveta Petrovna. Being the daughter of Peter I, she continued the reforms started by her father. Thanks to this, Russia is rapidly developing, gradually establishing itself as a strong world power.
But one circumstance darkened the reign of Elizabeth Petrovna: she was childless, and the only heir to the throne, her nephew Peter Fyodorovich, was a somewhat strange and weak-willed person for a future autocrat. The only hope was that by marrying, Peter Fyodorovich would give the Russian throne an heir.
Many European princesses were candidates for the role of the future spouse of the Tsarevich, but Elizabeth Petrovna chose Frederica of Anhalt-Zerbst, a German princess from an impoverished branch of the Prussian kings. Soon after arriving in Russia, Frederica converted to Orthodoxy and became Catherine Alexeyevna.
Young Catherine naively believed that she was marrying for love, but real life in the royal palace turned out to be very far from romantic love. Her newly-wed husband Peter Fyodorovich was indifferent and cold to her, and Elizabeth Petrovna, who ascended to the throne as a result of a coup, was very suspicious of Catherine, believing that she could be a German spy. Therefore, Catherine's every step was followed by bloodhounds from Count Shuvalov's secret police.
Soon Catherine realized that all that was required of her was to give birth to an heir to the Russian throne, and then her life, as well as the life of her husband Peter Fyodorovich, might turn out to be completely unnecessary and end up in some monastery or fortress...

Невозможно смотреть эту ерунду после сериала Великая с Натальей Сурковой, Павлом Деревянко Никакая Ауг в роли Елизаветы с какими то сексуальными намеками и облизыванием губ, никакой Петр с кудряшками, никакая Екатерина с пустыми глазами. Где парики с буклями? Это офтцтальный дворцовый этикет того времени, а в сериале они только у двух каких то персонажей. Шведский стол с апельсинами и виноградом в саду на морозе? Что это? Вот Великую смотрела не отрываясь, каждый персонаж на своем месте, а эту поделку еле до половины первой серии осилила.
