Plot:
The hero of the "Mentov" wars, police lieutenant colonel Roman Georgievich Shilov, is once again going to finish his service in the agencies and retire. Having signed a bypass, Shilov decides to first take his regular vacation and goes to his beloved girl in Yaroslavl.
But an unexpected and alarming phone call forces Shilov to change his route. It was Nadezhda Krasnova, the wife of his friend Mikhail Krasnov. She told Shilov that some unknown people, posing as police officers, had kidnapped Mikhail and taken him away in an unknown direction.
Krasnov had once had problems with the law, but thanks to Shilov he escaped punishment and now led a respectable life. Having given up crime, Krasnov got married and opened a car repair shop in the province. Shilov was perplexed: who needed to kidnap Krasnov and why?
Shilov arrived at Krasnov's car service at the moment when the same unknown people were trying to kidnap Krasnov's wife Nadya. Shilov rescues Nadya, but soon becomes a victim of the kidnappers himself. The gang leader, a certain "Professor", explains to Shilov the reason for such close attention to him and the Kranov family: they are suspected of stealing the common money. Krasnov recently paid off a bank loan with this money, and the bills were marked.
Shilov asks "Professor" to contact his old acquaintance - the famous St. Petersburg authority "Apostol". "Professor" calls "Apostol" and he guarantees that Shilov could not have taken the money, he is not as badly brought up as it seemed to "Professor" and his people.
Under the guarantees of the "Apostle", the "Professor" was forced to release Shilov and Krasnov, but kept Krasnov's wife Nadya in captivity. He gives Shilov and Krasnov two days to find the money and those who dared to covet it...
