The plot of the movie Top Gun: Maverick:
Thirty-six years have passed since the events depicted in the film Top Gun. After Peter Mitchell (Maverick) left the school for the best pilots "Top Gun", he continued to test new aircraft at one of the US naval bases.
He could have become a vice admiral long ago, but he still went around as a captain. And he still did his favorite thing. But science and technology did not stand still. The newest fifth-generation fighters had bot computers that could reduce the human factor to a minimum. And this was not the limit. After all, soon robots could completely replace the pilot.
So professional ace pilots like Maverick could easily find themselves out of a job. That's what Mitchell's boss did. After Maverick decided to fly the newest plane at maximum speeds against orders from his superiors, he was fired.
However, old connections helped Mitchell stay in the service, thanks to the patronage of Admiral Kazansky, Maverick's former comrade-in-arms at the Top Gun school.
Under Kazansky's orders, Mitchell was reassigned as an instructor at Top Gun. He would train a group of pilots for a mission of particular importance. That mission was to destroy an unauthorized uranium enrichment facility in a hostile country.
The problem was that the plant was located at the bottom of a deep canyon, which was guarded by powerful air defense systems and fifth-generation fighters. The use of fifth-generation aircraft or cruise missiles was complicated by the fact that the enemy was actively suppressing GPS. They would have to operate on outdated F-18s, the control of which depended entirely on the skill of the pilots...
