Mission Impossible (1996) Movie Plot:
American intelligence received information that an embassy employee in Prague was going to sell a list of CIA illegal agents in Eastern Europe.
To stop this attempt, the CIA sends a group of its agents to the embassy, who are supposed to detain the corrupt attaché in the process of transmitting secret data.
However, due to a leak of information, the carefully planned operation is disrupted. All members of the group are killed except for agent Ethan Hunt, who now falls under suspicion of his CIA colleagues.
It turns out that this whole special operation was just a masquerade and a cover for another operation. The goal of this operation was to expose a "mole" in the ranks of CIA agents. And the corrupt embassy employee and the list of illegal agents were just bait that the "mole" was supposed to bite.
Since almost all of the group's employees privy to the details of the operation were killed, the CIA leadership rightly concluded that Hunt was the "mole." After all, for some reason he was the only one left alive and unharmed.
Hunt didn't wait to be arrested and escaped. The only way to clear himself of all suspicion was to find a real "mole".
And to do this, Hunt decides on an impossible task. He must steal those very lists of illegal agents from a secret CIA bunker and find the buyer...
