Narrative:

The action of the film "Strike! Another Strike!" takes place in the mid-60s. The Leningrad football team "Zarya" reached the final of the prestigious European tournament "Northern Seas Cup", where it will have to meet the football players of the team "Reefs" from Norhafen, considered one of the strongest teams in Europe.

The tension before the match is growing, also because Zorya will have to play at home, at its native stadium with the stands filled to capacity. It is difficult to overestimate the sporting and even political significance of this match, therefore, the team management is setting the players up for nothing but victory.

However, not all Zarya players are imbued with this high responsibility and before the start of preparation for the match, senior coach Tamantsev has to expel striker Konstantin Malkov from the main team for systematic violation of the sports regime. Malkov was a good striker, but Tamantsev stopped trusting him, and how can you put a player you don’t trust in a decisive match?

This decision by Tamantsev was met with controversy by his management, for which the head coach was subjected to harsh criticism. But Tamantsev did not back down, and even two days before the game he removed his son Sergey from the main squad, who did not come to spend the night at the base. Instead of Sergey, Tamantsev puts on the field the young striker Tolya Starodub, for which he is subjected to even more criticism.

Some of Tamantsev's assistants are in a defeatist mood. And they do not hide the fact that after this match they, together with the head coach, will have to look for another job, but Tamantsev does not succumb to these despondent moods, because he is firmly confident in his footballers and that they will definitely win this decisive match for all of them...
