Действие фильма «Первая перчатка» происходит в первые послевоенные годы. Демобилизовавшись из армии, Никита Крутиков мечтает вернуться домой на Дальний Восток, где до войны работал в одном из лучших совхозов страны. Но на свою беду или счастье он, гуляя в одном из столичных парков, встречает Ивана Васильевича Привалова, тренера по боксу общества «Метеор».
Krutikov impressed Privalov with his bogatyr strength, which he used to disable a silomer in the park, and the Meteor coach realized that he had finally met the man he had been looking for all his life. Krutikov really had a phenomenal punch, but to get the title of the first glove of the country, he had to work hard on technique and tactics of fighting.
And here intuition did not fail Privalov: his ward turned out to be a very capable pupil and progressed rapidly, sending his opponents into the ring one after another. Finally, he made it to the final of the championship tournament, where he would face the reigning champion of Moscow, a boxer from the rival society "Motor" Yuri Rogov.
Привалов не сомневается в победе Крутикова и уже предвкушает славу первой перчатки страны, которая обрушиться на него и его подопечного, но тут неожиданно возникают две преграды, которые начинают сильно усложнять дело…
