The plot of the movie Rambo: First Blood 2:
The movie is set in 1985. Rambo is serving his sentence at hard labor, where he is once visited by Colonel Trautman. The colonel tells John that a special mission is being prepared in Southeast Asia to search for American prisoners of war. The computer gave Rambo's name as the most suitable candidate for this mission, because the purpose of the operation is a prisoner-of-war camp in Vietnam, from which Rambo escaped in 1971.
The colonel said that if John agreed, he would be temporarily reinstated to the Army and if the assignment was successful, he would fall under presidential amnesty.
Soon Rambo was taken to a special military base where he met the head of the operation, Marshall Murdock, who explained to John that his task was to locate the POW camp and photograph the site. Murdock warned Rambo against attempting to make contact with the enemy, much less attempting to free the prisoners.
But when landing Rambo in a given area, loses a backpack with equipment, and that would have proof of the presence of prisoners in the camp frees one of them. However, Murdock did not need proof of prisoners, but quite the contrary - their absence. This would have given Congress the opportunity to put a permanent end to the Vietnam War and shut the mouths of the public who were constantly demanding the release of the POWs.
Therefore, Murdock in good conscience "leaks" Rambo and the prisoner freed by him to the Vietnamese, hoping to hide "ends in water". Having learned of the betrayal, Rambo decides to complete the mission and then take revenge on Murdock....
