Agent Bartholomew hires snipers Levi and Drasa to patrol a ravine inhabited by mysterious creatures known as "hollow men." Their job is to guard two watchtowers and prevent the creatures from leaving the special zone.
Levi and Drasa serve in separate towers, separated by a deep ravine, and service regulations forbid them from making contact with each other.
But despite the ban, Levi and Drasa begin to communicate using tablets. And soon this communication develops into a romantic relationship.
After six months of isolation, Levi throws a zipline to a nearby tower, but while trying to get back up, he falls off. Using a parachute, Drasa dives after Levi, and ends up at the bottom of a ravine swarming with terrifying mutants.
As it turned out later, in the late 40s, the USA, Great Britain and the USSR created a secret laboratory to create supersoldiers by growing mutants from people, plants and insects. However, after a strong earthquake, the laboratory was destroyed, and the mutants crawled all over the gorge.
The nuclear charge planted at the bottom of the gorge was supposed to destroy all traces of the experiment, but for some unknown reason it was not activated.
