Plot of the film Variant Omega:
1942. Soviet intelligence learns that a major is arriving in Tallinn. Abwehr Georg von Schlosser. Baron von Schlosser, a former Wehrmacht general, had long since ended his military career. He did not support the Nazis and even criticized Hitler. But his son Georg, a professional intelligence officer, believed that he was simply doing his duty to his homeland.
Before the war, Georg worked in Russia, knew Russian perfectly and loved Russian culture. Being an experienced intelligence officer, he was in direct contact with the head of the Abwehr, Admiral Canaris, who valued him very much. But before the war, he had the courage to report truthful information to the center about the military potential of the USSR, and was removed from work.
All these factors were known to Soviet intelligence. And if Canaris decided to bring Schlosser back into the case, it meant that something serious was being planned. And in order to find out, Soviet intelligence officer Sergei Skorin is sent to Tallinn under the guise of Hauptmann Paul Krieger.

This played into Schlosser's hands. The appearance of an intelligence officer of Skorin's caliber was precisely what the cunning baron needed. After all, through Skorin, Schlosser planned to organize a stable channel for the advancement of strategic disinformation to the Soviet headquarters.
Skorin doesn't know this either, and in order to speed things up, he initiates his own arrest. This was a backup plan or "Omega option"
Schlosser does not advertise Skorin's arrest, but settles him in a villa rented for this occasion. In order to confirm his readiness to cooperate, Skorin agrees to a radio game, hoping to warn the center with a special conditional signal about the work under control.
But Schlosser had foreseen this move. He used a new method for recording radio broadcasts at the time. The idea was that before broadcasting, the broadcast was recorded on magnetic tape and transmitted only after removing any warning symbols.
Skorin did not know this and could not know. But he knew for sure that he needed to find another communication channel to transmit to the center about the work under control...
