Plot:
The action of the film "The Manchurian Variant" takes place in 1945. Three months earlier, the act of unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany was signed, after which the war in Europe was over.
However, in the East, the war continued. Militaristic Japan did not want to lose its positions in Asia and waged desperate resistance to the forces of the international coalition. Calls for war to the last Japanese were heard more and more often, and in the event of defeat, an act of voluntary self-destruction was envisaged.
At this time in Manchuria, General Hante, who held the post of the head of the 3rd intelligence office of Manchukuo, was staying at the elite hotel "Khokuman", intended for the senior officers of the Kwantung Army. This general, and especially the operational information he possessed, interested Soviet intelligence.
In order to kidnap and deliver the general to the mainland, the “Manchurian Option” plan was developed, which was carried out by the Soviet intelligence officer Chadyarov, who worked under the cover of the owner of the Hokuman Hotel…
