The plot of the movie Accident (movie 1974):

A small accident with a car on the highway leads Alfredo Traps, a successful manager of a large trading company, to the house of a retired judge of a small county town. The house was recommended to him by Friedrich, a technical support worker whose fiancée worked for the judge as a housekeeper.

Since Friedrich has promised to have the car ready by morning, Traps decides to spend the evening at a local club, but the hospitable landlord insists on having dinner in his company. Soon, when Traps came down to the living room, his friends were already there, retired like himself, and formerly a prosecutor, lawyer and executioner.

Wine and a game are all that these cheerful old men have left, and they kindly ask Traps to have a drink with them and participate in their game. And the game the pensioners were playing was not cards or money, but court.

And since the judge, prosecutor, lawyer and executioner were already there, Traps realized that he was to play the role of the defendant. Alfredo lightly agrees, believing it to be an innocent game of old men out of their minds.

Just as frivolously, he tells the old people about his life, how he rose from the bottom and reached a high position in society, thus falling into the trap of the prosecutor, who suggested a connection between Traps' rise through the ranks and the death of his former boss, whose place he subsequently took. Moreover, the prosecutor even accused Traps of premeditated murder of his superior, and promoted his affair with the wife of the murdered man.

Under a hail of such overwhelming evidence, Traps was forced to confess to everything, and asked the court to impose the death penalty.

The court took the defendant's request into account and gave him the death sentence, but only conditionally, for it was only a game. But in the morning, when Friedrich brought his car, Traps hurried to leave this strange house, which after everything that had happened the night before, seemed crazy to him. Following the mountain road at high speed, Traps fails to control his car and gets into another accident....
