Narrative:

The action of the series "Battalion" takes place in 1999. After the departure of the Soviet Union from the geopolitical arena, the collapse occurs in the former Yugoslavia. This process is accompanied by a series of interethnic armed conflicts known as the Yugoslav Wars.

By 1999 Yugoslavia as a single state no longer exists, and the former republics of the federation become independent states. It seemed that this was the end of the bloody events in the Balkans, but now the Kosovo separatists, supported by Albania, are declaring their independence.

To resolve the situation, the UN Security Council decides to send a peacekeeping mission to Kosovo, consisting mainly of armies from NATO member countries.

Moscow understands whose side this peacekeeping mission will defend and what consequences this will have for the Serbian minority living in Kosovo. And since the only airport in Kosovo capable of receiving transport planes was Slatina Airport, the military-political leadership of Russia decides to seize it.

This could be done by a battalion from the Russian peacekeeping forces located in Bosnia, but the deployment of a battalion from Bosnia would take a considerable amount of time, so until it arrives, the airport would have to be held by the forces of a special forces unit deployed to Kosovo…
