The movie is set in the period from 1989 to 1995. В Chechen-Ingushet ASSR former Soviet army general Dzhokhar Dudayev becomes the leader of Chechen nationalists.

Taking advantage of the weakness of the central government, Dudayev and his supporters manage to seize power in Chechnya almost effortlessly, and it becomes an independent state. However, conflicts soon arise between different separatist groups, leading to a civil war.....
