Narrative:
Grozny, 1995. Federal troops are trying to take over a hospital where militants are defending themselves. Until recently, the hospital was in federal hands, but the Chechens, led by field commander Dukuz Israfilov, managed to drive them out.
Israfilov, a former surgeon at this hospital. His unit includes not only Chechens, but also Afghan mujahideen, Arabs, Africans, and even girls from the Baltics, former biathletes.
Unlike the militants, who were seasoned in various local conflicts and also earned good money in the war, the federal troops were staffed by young conscripts who did not serve in the Army of their own free will, and in addition, the pay of Russian officers in those years was very different from the salaries of the militants.
Colonel Vitaly Suvorov, who lost one eye in the battle, tried to drive the Chechens out of the captured hospital with his young and untrained soldiers, but his brigade suffered huge losses. In addition, the artillery fire spotter made a mistake, and now their own guns were ironing out the brigade with all their might.
The losses from their own artillery were many times greater than the losses at the hands of the militants. Colonel Suvorov tries to contact the artillerymen, but in vain, the old radio stations with which the federal troops were equipped worked poorly. Unlike the militants, who were equipped with the latest models of Japanese radio stations, with the help of which they listened to all radio communications of the federals.

Several GRU special forces, call sign "Cobra", arrive to help Suvorov. These fighters had been through more than one such purgatory, and felt more comfortable in the war than conscripts. They managed to get inside the hospital and slowly begin to push back the militants. But they needed fire support.
"Cobra" contacts the tank commander, Lieutenant Igor Grigorashchenko, and asks him to support them with tank fire, reporting the location of the main Chechen forces. Igor opens heavy fire from the tank on the militants' positions, and they suffer heavy losses.
But Igor also has problems, his tracks are broken, and now the tank will remain motionless. Israfilov throws out a white flag and asks the tankers to come to negotiations. Dukuz offers them to go over to his side. He has no tankers in his unit, so he offers good pay for the work, incomparably more than the state pays.

As an advance payment, he hands Igor an expensive Swiss Rolex watch worth several thousand dollars. After some thought, Igor decides to reject Israfilov's "tempting" offer and continues to iron out the militants.
But the shells quickly ran out. The enraged Israfilov demands that the tank be destroyed. The militants surround him and begin shooting at the armored vehicle with several anti-tank grenade launchers. After that, they open the tank's hatch with a grenade.
Igor is pulled out of the turret, barely alive; both his legs have been blown off by the cumulative jet of grenade launcher shots. The enraged militants nail him with rifle butts like Jesus Christ to the cross and hang him on the hospital building.
But Igor has badly battered the militants and now the feds manage to drive the Chechens out of the hospital and capture it. But they were unable to consolidate their success, and a few days later the hospital was again taken over by the militants…
