Plot:
The action of the series "And There Was War" takes place in June 1941. Viktor Malkov and Nikolai Okhvatov, entering adulthood, Sunday morning June 22, 1941 They meet the year fishing and make plans for a bright future. Malkov is the secretary of the Komsomol committee of the machine-building technical school, Okhvatov went to work at the plant after school, and now they have already started giving him independent work in the shop.
But when they return from fishing, the boys learn that their plans for peaceful construction of a bright future are not destined to come true, because the radio announced that a war had begun. A war that, as they were taught, if it was supposed to happen, would only happen on foreign territory and with little bloodshed.
But the war came to their home, and judging by the reports from the front and the mobilization that had begun, it became clear that the matter would not be resolved with a little bloodshed. Soon Nikolai Okhvatov received a summons from the military registration and enlistment office, and Viktor Malkov, as a technical school student, received a deferment. But Malkov did not hide behind his "reservation", but went to the military registration and enlistment office and demanded that he be sent to the front.
The friends have different feelings. Malkov is brave and is ready to sacrifice himself for the Motherland and Stalin right now, while Okhvatov is not nearly as optimistic as Viktor, because naturally he did not want to die at the age of eighteen.
And in the training unit, where friends were trained before being sent to the front, Nikolai Okhvatov was among the lagging fighters, preferring household work to combat training. But the first meeting with the merciless enemy changed Nikolai Okhvatov's defeatist attitude, because his mother remained in the occupied territory, and he had already seen how the fascists treat the local population, so he will not have to wait for mercy from the occupiers ...
