Plot of the series Squid Game (Season 1):
By the age of 40, Son Ki Hoon was considered a loser. He had no normal job, his wife had left him for another man. Leaving him alone with his seriously ill elderly mother. In order to solve his growing financial problems, Son Ki Hoon gambles, but instead of winning big, he has even bigger problems. The debt is growing like a snowball, but Son Ki Hoon continues to gamble stubbornly, getting into even bigger debts.
It seemed that there was no way out of this vicious circle. But one day, a strange man approaches Son in the subway. He knows that he is an inveterate gambler and invites him to take part in a game. The winner of which will receive a huge jackpot of 45 billion won.
So Son Ki Hoon finds himself on a mysterious island where several hundred other participants have already gathered. The same debtors and losers as himself. For all of them, participation in the game was the last chance to escape from the debt hole.

However, after the first round of the game, all the participants were horrified. As it turned out, the stake was not only a multi-billion dollar jackpot, but their own lives. After the first game, the number of participants was halved. And this happened after each game.
The rules stipulated that the game could be stopped by a majority decision. And after a few rounds, they took advantage of that right.
However, when they returned home, they suddenly realized that nothing good awaited them in life. And only this terrible deadly game would give them a chance for a better future...
