Narrative:

The action of the series "Shadow Behind" takes place in the early 2000s. In the provincial town of Lakhtinsk, a series of brutal murders of young women occurs and an investigator urgently arrives in the city Prosecutor General's Office Nikolai Gorobets.

After reviewing the case, Gorobets concluded that a serial killer was operating in the city and that all the murders of women were his doing, while local law enforcement believed that these murders were in no way connected to each other.

Soon an attempt was made on Gorobets' life, and hot on the trail, local detectives detained a certain Kostya Belan, who suddenly confessed to committing all the murders...

Several years have passed. Belan is serving a life sentence, and in the meantime new murders are taking place in Lakhtinsk. Gorobets, who initially did not believe that Bilan was a maniac, visits him in the colony. Bilan confesses to the investigator that he is involved in the death of only one girl, and confessed to the other victims under torture...
