Narrative:
The action of the series "The Defendant" takes place in our time. Investigative Committee investigator Andrei Klimov is investigating the case of the murder of a young woman, the main suspect in which was the vice-president of a large investment company, Alexei Nesterov.
However, it is not possible to arrest the killer, because he commits suicide himself. It seemed that the case should now be closed, but Klimov makes an unexpected discovery for himself that the deceased was not Alexey Nesterov, but his twin brother Dmitry.
Klimov suspected that Alexey had killed Dmitry and was now posing as him, but he could not prove this because soon after the investigator himself ended up in prison on charges of murdering his wife and daughter.
The defendant Klimov knows who the killer of his family is, but it was practically impossible to prove it from prison, because the criminal was smart, cunning and, most importantly, a very rich and influential person...
