In the late 70s and early 80s of the last century, a wave of brutal murders of children and young women swept across the Rostov region. Detectives established that the criminal first raped his victim and then brutally killed him with a knife, cutting out his eyes and genitals.
The killer operated in parks, squares, forest belts and acted very carefully, leaving practically no traces behind. However, witnesses testified that they saw one of the dead girls with a middle-aged man in a raincoat, hat and large glasses. The alleged criminal was holding a briefcase.
In the mid-80s, vigilant patrol officers detained a man named Chikatilo at the bus station in the city of Novoshakhtinsk, who matched the description of witnesses.
He behaved suspiciously: he wandered the streets, approached children and young girls. And in the briefcase of the detained Chikatilo a kitchen knife, a coil of rope, Vaseline and a bloody towel were found.
The detectives were already anticipating fame and stars on their shoulder straps for catching the cruel maniac, but Chikatilo had to be released, because he had the second blood type, and the killer had the fourth.
Thus, the serial murders could have ended back in the mid-80s of the last century, but a serious expert error led to the dangerous criminal being free again and continuing his bloody work.
Only in 1990, Andrei Chikotilo will once again accidentally fall into the sight of vigilant patrolmen, and this time the beast will not be able to escape from the trap...
