Narrative:
The main character of the film Blood sport, Frank Dukes (Jean-Claude Van Damme), is about to take part in the annual Hong Kong wrestling tournament. kumite, which is one of the full-contact Japanese martial arts. This tournament brings together the best fighters from different countries.
But Frank is a captain in the American army, so the command, having learned of his decision, is going to prevent him. However, Frank manages to slip away, and before leaving for Hong Kong, Frank visits his teacher Senzo Tanaka.
As a boy, Frank accidentally ended up in Tanaka's house, who, seeing the boy's potential as a real fighter, took him in to raise him. At first, Tanaka planned to use Frank as a sparring partner for his son, but when his son died, Tanaka passed on all his knowledge to Frank. And now Frank had to pay tribute to his teacher and go to Hong Kong for a kumite tournament to glorify the name of the Tanaka clan.
When Frank showed the admissions committee a letter stating that he was a representative of the Tanaka Clan, they did not believe him. The Japanese never passed on their secrets of fighting to foreigners. Frank was asked to break a brick lying in a stack of bricks with his hand. The entire hall was distracted from training and watched Frank attentively. When the bottom brick flew apart from Frank's blow, the kumite fighter Chang Lee, who was watching attentively, rightly noted that the brick could not fight back.

Chang Li, the undefeated kumite champion, was the clear favorite of the tournament. He was also famous for his cruelty, having killed his opponent in the previous tournament. Now, one way or another, his paths with Frank had to converge. On the way to the final, Frank and Chang Li easily defeat their opponents one after another. In the quarterfinals, Chang Li goes up against "Big Jackson", with whom Frank had already become friends in the tournament.
In this fight, Chang Li inflicts severe injuries on Jackson, who is hospitalized. In the run-up to the final fight, Janice Kent, a journalist Frank met in Hong Kong, tries to dissuade him from fighting Chang Li, but Frank is eager for revenge.
In the final fight, Frank successfully attacks Chang Li, who, sensing his impending defeat, quietly throws powder into Frank's eyes, causing him to temporarily lose his sight. But Master Tanaka taught Frank to fight with his eyes closed. Having defeated his formidable opponent, Frank Dukes becomes the first Westerner to win a kumite tournament...
